About
How it all started
Theodore M.E. Taylor is a comedian known for his theatrical storytelling, sharp observations, and relatable humor. Born in Liberia and raised in Washington, D.C., and Texas, Taylor discovered his passion for performing in second grade and later studied Theatre Arts at the University of Houston.
Named Houston’s Funniest Person in 2011, Taylor has opened for Doug Stanhope, Anthony Jeselnik, and John “Pops” Witherspoon, and regularly featured for Carlos Mencia. His comedy draws on everyday experiences, family, and relationships, blending observational humor with the theatrical influences of Lucille Ball, Dick Van Dyke, Dave Attell, and Dave Chappelle.
After moving to Los Angeles in 2020, Taylor earned Best in Fest at the 2023 Burbank Comedy Festival. His stand-up special, Theodore M.E. Taylor’s BowTie Guy, was filmed at Houston’s historic Deluxe Theater in June 2024, following an opportunity to create and distribute the special through Comedy Dynamics.
Taylor continues to bring his distinctive storytelling and dynamic stage presence to comedy clubs and stages across the country.
